It’s December, so the Christmas countdown has started – and, speaking of time, here’s a nifty gift idea for the Doctor Who fan in your family or circle of friends.
Take a TARDIS and flash forward to December 25th, to the moment when that special Whovian in your life opens their perfectly wrapped Christmas prezzy to uncover a replica Doc Who scarf to keep them warm throughout the rest of winter. Sure, bow ties are cool but a lovingly crafted replica of your fave Time Lord’s nifty neckwear? Geronimo!
The kind folk over at Lovarzi, accessory specialists who’ve pretty much nailed a range of geek-chic Doctor Who knitwear (not to mention a Sherlock collection that Cumberbatch himself would be happy to investigate), were generous enough to send me my very own 4th Doctor replica scarf, which dedicated fans may recognise as the type worn by DW legend Tom Baker.
It’s priced at £49.99 but, given that it’s a pretty substantial size (opening up to 13ft/4m long), it’s worth every penny. The officially licensed scarf is a perfect treat for hardcore fans and cosplayers, but even occasional Who watchers (or even complete newbies) may find themselves enamoured by the blend of warm autumnal colours: yellow, purple, green, burgundy red. So, while it may be recognised as an iconic scarf to Who fans passing by, you could just as happily wear it for comfort and style regardless of your allegiance (or non-allegiance) – the only thing giving its true identity away is a label inside, which you’d have to get pretty up close to in order to clarify its official Who status.
To buy your very own decorative scarf, or to browse the official BBC Doctor Who and Sherlock collections, head over to the Lovarzi website and keep up-to-date on Twitter. After all, it’s pretty cold out there in space and time – best to wrap up!
Winter is coming…
Wrong genre show, but the oncoming dark nights and cold snaps are an inevitability as we approach November. So it’s time to dig out your dusty old scarves in an effort to keep warm on the daily commute, or for when you’re on patrol in a graveyard with a trusty stake at your side. Oops, wrong show again.
Thanks to the folk over at Lovarzi though, you’ll be able to keep warm in true geek style this winter with their dastardly decorated Dalek scarf – a must-have for any Whovian, surely? And even better, for TODAY ONLY, you’ll receive an extra 15% off this officially licensed product when you use code DALEK15D at checkout.
Whether you’re the big fan in your household, or you know a Doc Who devotee who’d love to find this in their Christmas stocking, the time has come for Time Lord accessorising. Stay warm across space and time, kids!

Are you one of the lucky geeks who got a next-gen console off Santa this Xmas? Of course I’m jealous, but then again the game line-up so far has been underwhelming even if the very idea of a PS4 makes my mouth fill with saliva.
Thankfully, gamers have a lot to look forward to this year whether your hardware is upgraded or not. Highlights abound and, for shame-faced PS3/Xbox 360 owners like myself, some of the more exciting titles are available on the old kit.
Sure, PS4’s ‘The Evil Within’ looks like good scary fun, but the console crossover likes of ‘Watch Dogs’ (‘Remember Me’ done right?), rad reboot ‘Thief’ and epic-in-waiting ‘Destiny’, from the makers of ‘Halo’/’COD’, lead the way in an exciting fashion. Meanwhile, crowd-funded point-and-click adventure puzzler ‘Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey’ is set to be a favourite of old-school fans and PC gamers nonplussed next-gen advancements.
As for the next thing on my list, I don’t think much needs to be said. Forget your annual GP visit, this year it’s all about one Doctor and his name is Malcolm Fucking Tucker. I feel Saturday nights are about to get unpredictable…

Apologise for the hacket job below, but a hacket job really is on theme.
Fresh from news that Ben Affleck is to take over a role he made truly iconic, Christian Bale’s celluloid rendering of ‘American Psycho’ is to get a stage revamp by none other than frickin’ Doctor Who. Poor Affleck, as this casting twist has been a hit with fans who have flocked for tickets to the stage show of Bret Easton Ellis’s most controversial novel.
Hopefully, it will get an extended run as most of the initial December/January dates at London’s Almeida Theatre are already sold out. Which is news enough to get one’s nail gun from out the cupboard, or at least to axe some poor sop to death during a Huey Lewis & The News number. I wonder what the music will bring to the production, but Matt doing Ellis already has me more than intrigued.
Just what you’ve needed all week: a new buzz trailer comprised of clips of all 11 Doctors ahead of this year’s big 50th, complete with Japanese subtitles… right?
Geronimo! Excited yet?
The riddle is solved, the mystery of the 12th Doctor’s identity has been revealed, and we now know that the result of Matt Smith doing that weird regenerating thing will be… MALCOLM FRICKIN’ TUCKER!
Uh-oh. Put the children to bed, new Doc’s got a potty mouth. Yup, Peter Capaldi is the one and he’s bound to be getting into the thick of it (I’m sorry) with his trusty sonic screwdriver.
Getting excited about that Christmas spesh yet??
Ooh-er. Don’t upset a Whovian, especially when the 50th anniversary is coming up.
A certain devout subset of ‘Doctor Who’ fans are a bit peeved that an exclusive (and apparently super-awesome-shiny) trailer was debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and yet has not since been made available online. I guess I can understand why the UK ‘Who’ followers are annoyed that the Yanks get a peek before us, seeing as it is a Brit institution. Butttt, I’m all for keeping things a bit of a mystery – sure, a tease is nice but wouldn’t it be great to know nothing about the special before it airs in November? Doubt that’s gonna happen, so let’s just enjoy the mystique a little bit longer.
Also, if this hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t have got this awesome little vid from TheBritishCupOfTea. Teehee!
